Devotional: A Heart that Pleases Him
Written by: Colette Harp
Do you desire to have a heart that pleases the Lord? Do you feel that pleasing the Lord is truly attainable? What truly pleases the Lord? Today’s focus looks at what kind of heart the Lord desires for us to have.
“Now as for Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai who had taken her in as his [own] daughter, when her turn came to go in to the king, she requested nothing except what Hegai the king’s eunuch [and attendant] who was in charge of the women, advised. And Esther found favor in the sight of all who saw her.” Esther 2:15 AMP
Wow! What an attitude to possess! Esther had a heart that simply wanted to please the king.
In the New Testament, the term “please God” conveys the idea of living in a way that aligns with God’s will and brings Him delight. It emphasizes the importance of a life that reflects obedience, faith, and devotion to God. The early Christians understood that true pleasing of God was not through external acts alone but through a sincere relationship with Him, characterized by faith and obedience. (Strong’s Lexicon)
Maranatha family, what would happen if we lived with this same attitude that Esther had? Rather than catering solely to our own likings and desires, we made time to seek after what would truly please the Lord, our King?
